There were large entries in the lamb and pig classes to-day at Addington, while there was a medium offering of store sheep, chiefly wethers. Values were at late rates, with a hardening tendency at the concluding stages, there was a full yarding of mutton. Wethers were in short supply, selling firmly as did prime hoggets. Ewes were slighly easier. The quotations are: Ewe mutton 3d to 4d per lb. wethers 4d to od per lb. Ninteen hundred fat lambs were penned. The quality was below standard. The market was easier, except for first-class lots, which sold well. Rest lambs sold to 25s Id, prime 19s to 225, medium 16s 6d to 18s Od, light from 13s.
Over six hundred bead of beef were yarded. It was .a dragging sale throughout. Many good drafts of bullocks were penned. The majority however, comprised cows and heifers ivith little merit. Values generally were easier. Prime medium weight' bullocks sold from 20s to 21s per hundred weight; heavy weights 17s to 195,, plain from 14s. Best cows and heifers sold from 16s to 18s per hundred, with an occasional 20s; plain from 14s; unfinished cows from 10s. Top orice for steers was £ll. hut mostly they sold about £9. Heifers sold to £8 2s 6d and best cows to £7 7s Gd, but few reached within these values. There was the largest yarding of fat pigs for years, ove r eight Inn id red head. Despite this large entry, cornoetition was kept keen, and values were maintained for porkers by the operation of two exporters. Again medium weights were more sought after. Baconers were a little easier. Porkers ranged from 27s 6d to 38s 7d, extra heavy prime to 40s 6d; choppers to £3 11s. according to weight. Baconors sold front 42s 6d to 47s 6d, heavy 51s Od to 56s 6d, extra to 59s 6d. Store pigs were firm.
