A militaristic air pervaded .the new Reichstag when it assembled at Kroll opv-ra. ,liouse. There wore over ai|X hundred members in unifom, th, ai majority in brown .'Nazi garb and red brassards, reminiscent of war time. A gathering of thousands of spectators was disappointed at the absence of Hitler, .who Was welcoming 'the. cruiser Koln, at Wilhelmsliaveii, fiom a world cruise. The house elected Herr Goering president by acclamation, and chose three new vice-Pre-sLden'ts. The procedings were short and snappy. The session, the briefest on record, lasted eight minutes.

GERMAN INTEREST “BLEEDING”

Herr Schacht addressing the German Chambers of Commerce in Switzerland declared that Germany would never again be able to pay the former interest on foreign loans. She had repaid ,£700,000 interest on capital during * the past three yeas. Such b.eeding was immoral, and economically senseless. Her transfer agreement of July was the fairest possible and creditors must help debtors to rescue the world .from the crisis.
