Foster of the Nelson Philosophical Society; d resolu- - tion was passed as followsUThat the deer and the fire, menace in-the forest is not as yet sufficiently realised by the general public; and also that the wholesale destruction of the forests will constitute a national calamity of the first magnitude by the choking up of the riverbeds and a subsequent ruination of the plains by floods.
