FIVE BILLS PASSED SESSION NEARING CONCLUSION. (Per Press Association, Copyright) WELLINGTON, December 11. In the House of Representatives on Saturday, the . Transport Law Amendment Bill, Victoria .University College Bill, Canterbury University College Bib, Summer Time" Amendment Bill (No. 2), and Post and Telegraph Amendment Bill were put through the remaining stages and passed. The Hon. G. vT. Forbes said the “Mortgagors’ Relief, Valuation of Land, and Finance Bills, as well as the supplementary estimates, were still to be introduced. He thought the House ought to be able to complete the session’s programme within a week. The ; House rose .at 5.30 p.m. until tq-dav. - ‘SUMMERTIME AMENDMENT BILL. WELLINGTON, December 9. Providing for - a six weeks’ extension of- the duration of the half hour of daylight saving, # the Summertime Amendment Bill was passed without amendment by th e House to-day. The only speaker was Mr. R McKean. (Labour), who. in congratulating the Minister on the promotion of legislation, expressed the" hope that this measure would be the forerunner of a, Government Bill providing. for an extension of the daily period of daylight saving to one hour. It would be a good thing, .he added, .if the Hour.e approved a measure establishing one hour’s daylight saving the whole year round.
Mr McKeen; It would be a great advantage, especially to the northern portions of the Dominion, if, summertime were extended ifor the whole year. I hope this matter will be considered next session.”. .
