Unluckily, the throttle Avas Avide open and the machine stated forward,. the pilot being struck and knocked doAvn by one of the ivings, receivihg bruises to the back. Gordon Lindsay made a frantic effort to reach the controls by jumping on ibo the moving machine, which, hOAvever, quickly gathered speed, forcing him To jump clear. Several bystanders made vain attempts to stop the machine by grajjsing the Aviffigs and tail. Somebody gave the tail a twist, Avith the result that the ‘machine SAvept round in a- wide are, finally crashing into the motor car. The impact Avas severe, and the aeroplane’# propellors AA-ere snapped off, the wings broken and the undercarriage shattered. The. body of the motor oar was extensively damaged.
