.Operations at the union ,sto.e : k yards tonday were paralysed ■ by a strike of th e livestock ; 'hand 1 ers’ union. There is no open market, and the Department of Agriculture has issued no quotations. It is estimated that seven thousand men iare striking.

The strikers demand a return to the 1929 wage. Many are reported to be getting weekly of only 7.50 to 12.50 dollars.

Forty thousand hogs, 16,000 cattle, and 17,000 sheep are already awaiting unloading. No violence i s reported.
