The Southern Oricket Sub-Associa-tion’s senior ,competition was continued during the week-end,, rain interfering with play late in the afternoon. Hokitika, Kanieri and Ru a tapu won their matches. HOKITIKA v. RIMU.
HOIVITJbIVA v. xviiviu. 'High scoring characterised the match , between Hokitika and 'Rimu, played | •at Rimu, no fewer than 434 runs being ' scored. Hokitika won by 16 runs Hokitika in their first innings scored 140 ‘(Morgan 33, O. 'Stapleton 31, Rich- i ard s 17, Collett 17, Thomas 16). Mor- j gan and Stapleton added 67 for the fourth wicket. Rimu replied with 148 j iS. Ogilvie (431, Inwood (34), and T. 'O’Connor (31), being responsible for
some big hitting. Clifton and W■O’Connor also made double figures. In their .second innings Hokitika declared with six down for 85. Morgan (41) and Baird (20) made a good stand and placed Hokitika in a nice position(Rimu, left with 78 to secure for a win, wete dismissed for 61 (Inwood UC- Ogilvie 10). The short' boundaries were resppn-j ! sible for .big hitting, the total runs ! scored including 13 sixps and 54 fours. | Bowling for Rimu O’Connor took 5 for. 38, C. KANIERI v. WOODSTOCK. Woodstock batted first and made 79 (Griffiths 36, Howat 13). Kanieri were only, able to reply with 32. Woodstock in their second innings scored 57 (Griffiths 29). Kanieri were left with 105 to make to win, and they secured them for the loss of only four wickets (Wells 74, E. Morris 24). Kanieri won by six wickets,
Bowling for Kanieri Morgan tpok 3 for 36, C. Fleming 2 for 4, H. Wells 2 for 5. Second innings—Morgan 7 for 17, Fleming 2 for 25. For Woodstock, Griffiths secured- 5 for 17, L. Wells 2 for none, Howat 2 for 7. Second innings, Griffiths 1 for 50, Wells 2 for 29, Stoop 1 for 9.
RUATAPU v. ROSS. | Ruatapu defeated Ross by an innings j and 52 runs in the .match at Ross. The ) home team gave a poor showing and j were 'only able to score 38 (0 Connell 16), and 31 (O’Connell 8). Ruatapu first innings totalled 121 .(Duffel! 39, Whitehead 39 a - -Wilson H)*
