VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

PERRY DEFEATS CRAWFORD.

MELBOURNE, November 26

At the Victori an tennis championships, the singles finals' Was played yesterday. Perry (England) defeated Crawford (Australia), 0/4,’- 2/6, 6/4, 6/3. A huge crowd witnessed magnificent tennis by the world's best singles players. This was Perry’s fourth win over Crawford .in five matches during tile past two years. Critics declare that Perry’s victory yesterday was due,.,.to greater accuracy and ability to take command of rallies on Crawford’s service.

Norman Brookes, the ex-internation-al, expressed the opinion that Crawford should have played with more aggression. He added: “Perry i s to-day the world’s champion.”

Gerald Patterson said that- Crawford made more errors than I usual. Perry played a waiting game successfully. In the men’s doubles final, Crawford and Fopmau beat Hughes and Lee 8/6, 6/2, 6/3.. , In the women’s singles final, Miss Joan Hartigan beat Mis s Chitty 4/6, 6/4, 7/5. ' •
