It is notified that the upper parr o> Lake Kanieri road will be closec to traffic, on Tuesday and Wednesday next ■for culvert repairs. The road will be open to all traffic as far as Boucher’s Gully track, but near Ward Road it will be impassable for two days.
A drop of .eight shillings per cwt in the price of New Zealand butter on the London market, as compared with last week, is notified in Dalget.v and Co’s latest advices, which give the quotations, on a weak market, as follows: Danish, 116 sto 118 s; N.Z. finest 77s to 80s; Australian finest unsalted, 102 sto 80s; Australian salted, 76s to 80s; Australian g.a.q., 72s to 745. There was rather more inquiry on the cheese market towards the end of the week, the quotations then being: N.Z. white, 47s to 48s; N.Z. coloured, 46s to 48s; Canadian white and coloured 48s to 525. The wedding was solemnised at Holy Trinity Church, Gr*ymoutli, la'st evening, of Kathleen Dorothy, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs E. Oakey, of Greymouth, to William Beresford, son of Mr and Mrs W. Beresforcl, of Manchester, England. The ceremony was performed by Archdeacon IJ. A. Jermyn. The Church was | tastefully decorated by the friends iof the bride in foxgloves, lycopodium i and roses. Mr T. F. Savage presided lat the organ. The bride, who was es- ! corted by her father, wore a charming j fock of honey beige lace, worn over | shadow georgette, with hat and shoes to tone and carried a shower bouquet |of pastel-tinted acquillegas, roses and | carnations. Miss Madge O’Brien attenj ded as bridesmaid, wearing a dainty ( I pink lace frock, with a pink Leghorn | hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of j 1 roses, sweet peas, and maidenhair j fern. Mr R. Linnsen carried out Hie duties of best man.

A meeting cl' the executive of the Westland branch of the Canterbury Automibde Association was held last ■evening. A motion of condolence with Mr P. M. Renton and family was passed, members standing in silence, and the meeting was then adjourned until Friday, December 1, at 8 p.m.

A§ a result of a fall, Mrs M. J. Bergstrom, of Hampden Street, broke a s mall hone in her arm. She was taken to the hospital where the arm was X-rayed, and the bon e set, Mrs Bergstrom later returning to her home. She iva s walking down the yard when the accident occurred, and tripped, throwing her arm forward to break the fall.
The Municipal Band paid a visit to the Westland Hospital last might, a very enjoyable programme of music being provided from 7 o’clock till 8.30. There was a large number of visitors present in addition to the patients staff and the programme was much enjoyed. At the conclusion, Matron M. E, Anderson thanked the Band members for their enjoyable visit and extended a warm invitation to repeat the visit at an early date.
Last week as the result of a fall off a bicycle, Harry Peck, a lad of sixteen, a son of Mrs W. Peck, of liamp den Street was severely injured by the end of the handle of the machine striking him severely on the groin, resulting in one of his kidneys being penetrated. The injured lad was taken to Westland Hospital over a week ago where an operation was performed, the patient still being in a very serious condition.

Mr J. C. Mercer had a busy day yesterday. At 4.45 a.m. he left , Hokitika and flew to Greymouth, where he picked up a passenger and then flew to Bruce Bay, in South Westland. The passenger was left- there, and Mr Mercer returned to the Fran?, Josef Hostel for breakfast, landing there at 8.10. Leaving again at 9 o’clock, he returned to Greymouth, where he picked up another .passenger, for Hokitika. At Hokitika the petrol supply was replenished, and the journey to Christchurch begun at 11.45. Mr Mercer landed at Wigram Aerodrome at 1.15 p.m.
