COMPANIES BILL AMENDMENT

WELLINGTON, November 24. During its .committee stage in the House of (Representatives yesterday, the Companies .Bill was amended, in the terms of the 'Minister’s amendment relating to the qualification of auditors, but the Hon. J. G. C°a‘es’ other amendment relating to sha-i'e-hawking was not moved, the Minister pointing out he proposed to submit it, together with other suggestions on the subject, to a special advisory committee, with a view to dealing with the clause de novo, when the Bill \Vould be recommitted. On completion of the committee stage, Mr Coates intimated he did not propose to take the third reading forthwith, because he intended to recommit the bill shortly. Four local Bills, the Auckland Transport Board Conversion of Loans Empowering, the Greymouth Borough Belief of Unemployment Loan, the Validation of the Bluff Harbour Board Empowering, and the Bay of Plenty Licensing Committee Enabling Bills, were put through the remaining stage* and passed. The House rose at 11.35 p.m.
