OFFER TO FRANCE
A REMARKABLE INTERVIEW
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)
(Received this day at 8.45 a.m.)
BARIS, November 23
“Le Matin publishes fuller details of a- .remarkable interview which Herr Hitler has given -a French journalist, de Brinon, who is closely attached to French ’official circles, staling: “If France is willing to seek safety in a- freely discussed agreement, I am ready. I alone will decide the German policy, and when I pledge my word I am accustomed to keep ft. I am convinced that once the question of the Saar, which is German soil, is settled, absolutely nothing s hould separate France and Germany. The Alsace,-T/nT a ine question has been settled. The people have given -a reply. What more is wanted? How often must I say we do not wish to absorb what is not our town ? a
“I am insulted by people who repeat that I want war, which would' settle nothing, render the state of the world worse, would mark the end of our races, and result in the installation bf Asia, in 'Europe, and the triumph of Bolshevism. If you tell me what I can do to respect French Security I a m most willing to de it, provided it does not constitute dishonour or threat to Germany.
“The League is an assembly in which the' powers quarrel and agitate, and misunderstandinge are increased—not removed.”
