The conclusion 'cf the present annual communication of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand Freemasons, which is being held at Dunedin on Wednesday. will sec the retirement from office of Colonel George Barclay, who has held the office of i grand secretary for the- last t 12* years; with terms of residence in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin in two-year periods. Colonel Barcley was originally a member of the railways service, in which he was Well known in the Otago and Auckland districts. From this service he retired, immediately after the World War. With the volunteer and territorial forces of the Dominion he was connected for many years, and he served in the w'ar with distinction. * His 'activities in the work of the v Venerable Order, of St John ere well known. He holds the office of chief commissioner, of the St John Ambulance Brigade for New Zealand, and under the commandery which will shortly be instituted he .* will also - undertake the duties ofdirector of ambulance for the Dominion. . Further, 'he is a Knight, of Grace of the Order of St. John, an officer of the Order of British Empire, . and a Commander of v the Order of Danilo.
