, TO-NIGHT "FACE IN THE SKY”
Distinctly American in theme, yet marking a radical departure from American methods'of treatment, "Face in the Sky” which ends at the Princess Theatre to-uight, is one of the most interesting productions since the coming of taiking pictures. A notable trio of film favourites, Spencer *- Tracey, Marian Nixon ’ and Stuart Erwin, have the leading doles, and the direction is by Harry Lacliman. ‘ The plot concerns a travelling sign-painter, always dreaming of his glorious future. He meets a little, country girl who is likewise a dreamer. With the aid of his cimnsy helper, the painter assists her in escaping from her drab existence on a Vermont farm, only to fall in love with her. They are separated when the farmer overtakes ■ them, but again under unique circumstances ilr New York City. Tracey,• hitherto -famous for his "hard-boiled” portrayals in pictures, is cast in an entirely different type of role. M'iss Nixon is cast as the New England girl whose dreams lead her far beyond the confihes. of the farm and whose dainty features become the "face in the sky.” Erwin here returns to the "dumb” roles that originally made hint famous. Supports include further chapters of the serial.
