Their pet dog, which was on the back seat, was unable to make its escape when the door wa s opened, and it was burned to death. The car, which was not insured, wa® completely destroyed.

Mr and Mrs Cecil were conveyed to Franklin Memorial Hospital, Waiuku, by a passing motorist. They were later transferred ; to Auckland Hospital. Their condition is not serious although their injuries are extensive, and they are suffering from shock. Mr and Mrs Cecil were on a motoring tour at the time of the accident, and were on their way to stay with a friend at Waiuku before returning to Auckland.
