With ,two thousand pounds as the objective, a queen carnival campaign at Palmerston North, .closed _ last night with £1953 raised, for the purpose of relief of distress in the city and district. There were five queen candidates, the .farmers’ queen, Miss Joan Russell, winning handsomely.
