burns from gunpowder

NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 17
A farm worker -named W. Drury, received severe bums yesterday when a quantity of gunpowder used in splitting logs exploded : in ih'is face. The gunpowder had been ignited by a lighted cigarette.
BUSHMAN FOUND DEAD
ROTORUA, November 17
Apparently struck by the heavy limb of a tree, which was found beside his body, a bush man, William John Jones, 15, a widower, was discovered dead in the Manaku . bush on Thursday morning. A t-earch was made when Jones did not return to the whai'e on the previous evening. At the inquest a verdict of acci dental death was returned.
WOMAN’S DEATH
WAIPUKURAU, November 17,
A Waipawa resident, Mrs J. B. Moir, was found dead under tragic circumstances yesterday afternoon. The discovery was made by passers-by, attracted by an invalid boy. It is believed her death occurred on Tuesday night. She had been in ill health, but appeared comparatively well on Mondhy, when the husband left to work in the country. It is stated that no inquest is considered necessary. Mrs Moir had been medically attended.
