MOMENTOUS ACHIEVEMENT

fUnit-p.fl T'reea Association—By Electric Telegraph- -Copyright.)

LONDON, November 13

What the eminent surgeon, Lord Moynihan, described as 'one o.f the most momentous achievements in surgical history was demonstrated at Leeds inifiirmary, when two French surgeons, Pauchet and Becart, conducted ,a new method of blood transfusion by means of an electrical appliance wtih two tubes.

One tribe take* the blood from the given and the other transmits it to the patient in such ;a way that the rhythm of the passing .blood is maintained exactly as though it was passing through the human system. The temperature of the blood i* maintained, and its condidition as it passes into the arteries i« precisely the same as when it leaves the giver. The most- important feature is that the appliance make* it 'impossible for blood to clot, thus removing the danger which surgeons frequently encounter in the course of blood transfusions.
