STILL UNDECIDED
SOVIET AND U.S. RECOGNITION. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM QUESTION. •United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, November 14. ■The Soviet recognition negotiations here showed no visible progress 'today as the American officials studied various phases of the problem without any further discussions with the Soviet Foreign Minister, M. Litvinoff.
There are newspaper reports that President Roosevelt is demanding the modification of the Communists’ antireligious stand. This brought a hurried explanation that the only wish was ijhe assurance of freedom of religious worship for the American residents in Russia, the Administration carefully avoiding even the appearance of suggesting how the Russians may or may not worship. Other points under discussion, it is understood, are that of tne tentative settlement of the 800 million dollars of claims by Americans against the Soviet; and jthat of (a guarantee against the dissemination of subversive political religious propaganda in America.
