WELLINGTON, November 14. As the result of the recent decision of the Privy Council, that the employers of labour are liable for compensation under the Workers’ Compensation Act for the employees killed or injured in the course of their employment, between forty and fifty claims for compensation arising out of the Hawke’s Bay earthquake have been filed with the Clerk of Awards. Most o' 1 the claims will be heard by the Arbitration Court at Napier, in December. :
Mary McAllister, wlio toll and fractured her ankle while in the employ of Florence R a del iff a as cook, sought compensation in the Arbitration Court to-day, and Was successful, the Court giving judgment for £1 14s )kU‘ week from the time of tlm accident, May «S, to the present date, and for a further six months.
