WAGE RESTORATION

URGED BY BOROUGH COUNCIL

’ (per Press Association — Copyright.)

AUCKLAND, November 13

A recommendation that public bodies should stabilise wages and restore that 10 per cent cut was received by the 0n,9 Tree Hill Borough Council from the Auckland and Suburban Local Bodies’ Labourers’ Union. The letter stated that it was generally recognised that the 10 per cent cut had been a grave mistake, in view of the fact that workers would not meet their liabilities and many had had to relinquish their equity in their homes. The recommendation was referred to the finance and legal committee for consideration.
