MINISTER ANNOUNCES CHANGE.

WELLINGTON, November 13

An announcement that a change is to be made in the colours of the wages tax stamps was made by the Minister of Employment to-night. The change, the Minister stated, was being made with the object of ensuring that the Unemployment F and would be credited with all of the wages tax collected by the employers, and represented in cancelled stamps. The change over would be effected gradually between now and the end of the year. As stocks of the present issue are exhausted, they will he replaced by stamps of the new issue.

At the end of the year, any stocks of the present issue, remaining at the Post Office will be entirely withdrawn, and stamps of the new issue made available. Even after the end of the year taxpayers may use up any stamps of the old issue, which they may have on hand. The designs of the stamps is to remain the same, the colours only being changed. As the present stamps have been in use for over two years, the public has become accustomed to the colours used for the various denominations and care will be required to be exercised to avoid confusion and mistakes in payment of tax when tho new issue, becomes available.

The colours adopted for the various denominations of the new issue are as follows (colours of the issue in use at the present time being also shown): — One Penny: Present colours, maroon tint; No w colours, silver grey. Threepence : Piesent colours, hazel brown tinl; new colours, violet tint. Sixpence: Present violet tint; new, celestial blue One shilling; Present, Celestial blue; new, green. Two shillings: Present, crimson lake; new’ yellow. Five shillings’ Present, navy blue tint; new, crimson lake. Ten shillings: Present, green cadmium; new, brown. Twenty shillings: Present cadmium brown; new, navy blue tint. Eighty shillings: Present, silver grey; new, maroon tint.
