BRITAIN’S OCTOBER FIGURES

LONDON, November 12
The B'oard of Trade return for October, compared with, the corresponding period of the previous year, shows imports totalling £61,771,000, exports £34,130,000, re-exports £44,571,000.
, The principal increases are as follows ; Imports—Wood and timber £864,000, raw cotton £670,000, wool £706,000, hides and skins £389,000. Exports—Coal £239,000, wool £170,000, iron and steel, and manufactures thereof £566,000, non-ferrous metals and manufactures £482,000, cotton yarns and manufactures £356,000, woollen ditto £363,000. o-lie- textiles and manufactures £351,000. Decreases —lmports: Grain and flour £722,000, food and drink £1,516,000.
FIGURES FOR TEN MONTH PERIOD
RUGBY, November 11
The Board of Trade returns fur ten months to the end of October, show British imports were valued at £549.424.339. This i s a decrease of £31,539,667, -as compared with the first ten months of last year. 'Exports during the same period totalled £302,527.210. an increase of £979,585. During October, the value of raw materials and articles mainly manufactured imported into Britain, showed an increase over October, 1932, oi £3,085.594. There was a decrease of £2.739,158 in the value of imported ford, drink, and tobacco. The value of manufactured articles imported increased by £678,951. On the other hand, exports of manufactured articles showed an increase over October, 1932, of £3,398,821. DEFINITE TURN IN TIDE. (Received this day at 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, November 13. 1 The “Herald” says that the trade returns are a new confirmation of what lias been evident for some time, namely the definite, if slight, turn of the economic tide. There is now the possibility of a long, slow improvement in trade and employment,
