PRICES UP AGAIN IN SYDNEY. 7£ TO 10 PER CENT. ADVANCE (Australian Press Association). " SYDNEY, October 30. The wool sales hero yore resumed to-day under tho keenest competition from nil sections. Tho market showed an advance of to 10 per cent, on the closing rates of the previous Sydney series. Good free wools revealed the full extent of the advance. Comebacks crossbreds were in keen request, and splendid clearances were effected. Greasy merino fleece made 251 d. here. It was obtained for five bales which is the top price of the season. The offerings totalled 11,666 bales, of which 11,320 were sold, and also 2619 bales privately. LONDON MARKET REPORTS. LONDON, October 29. Mr Devereux reports: In sympathy with the firmer tendency overseas, the markets for fine wools have rather appreciated in price, but low quotations from South America for «oarse crossbreds have been a somewhat disturbing influence on these descriptions. There is a sound tone at Bradford. Merino topmakers again advanced in prices. Spinners are reluctant to follow, but a- satisfactory amount of new business has been transacted. Fine crossbred tops advanced, and business was transacted at a higher level. Medium low crossbred tops improved, but not much now business. There is in creased activity in German markets. The sales of tops has substantially increased in volume. Continental futures markets are fairly active. MELBOURNE RECORD PRICES. (Received this day at 10.53 a.m.) MELBOURNE, October 31. A total of 10,400 bales were offered at the wool sales, .and a 97 per cent, clearance iwas effected. The market was very strong at firmer rates. New records for the season were established, greasy merino sold to 23d per pound, end scoured to 51d.
