SALARY CUTS
NO RESTORATION AT PRESENT. iPer Press Association Copyright.) WELLINGTON, October 26. Civil servants need not look at present for any restoration of salary cuts. This was made quite clear by the Prime Miinster yesterday when a statement made by the Railways Board in reply to a deputation from the Railway Tradesmen’s Association Was referred to him. The Board told the deputat'on that it was prepared to restore the 10 per cent, cut but that Parliamentary sanction would have to be given. “There is no intention of restoring the.cut”, said the Prime Minister. “The state of the country’s finances do not justify it at present.”
