OBITUARY

MOTHER MARY DE PAZZI The death took place at Oreymouth convent yesterday evening of Mother Mary de Pazzi. Deceased was a native of County Tipperary, Ireland, and 75 years of age. She came' to Oreymouth in 1884, and has since laboured in the cause of religion and education, performing works of mercy and moulding the characters of the many pupils previleged to be under her care. The late Mother M. de Pazzi played a prominent part in spreading the Order of Mercy to Ohristqlnu)ch, -assisting fo some years in the establishment of St. Mary’s Convent, Colombo Street, Christchurch, but returning to Greymouth when the Christchurch Con vent had been granted self-govern-ment. In August 1930, Mother M. de Paiyri celebrated the golden jubilee ot her profession, and on that occasion numerous, friends and old pupils assembled to do her honour. Her sister, Mother M. Teresa, predeceased her in February of this year. Two other sisters, Mother M. Joseph (Killaloe), and Mother M. Michael (Roscrea), are Sisters of Mercy in Ireland. Her brothers are Rev. J. O’Connor, P.P. O’Gonnelloe (Ireland), and Mr, P. O’Connor, Roscrea (Ireland). The funeral will toke place to-morrow morning, following the celebration of. Solemn Pontifical, Requiem Mass by his Lordship, Bishop Brodie, and assisting clergy from all parts of the diocese. MR W 7 m. W r . DE CASTRO. (Per Press Association, Copyright). BLENHEIM, October 27. The death has occurred of Mr WTilliam Waring do Castro, aged 72, the only surviving official of the original Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand. He was formerly Registrar of Lands at Blenheim,,Nelson and Invercargill, and was also stationed at various times at Christchurch, Hokitika, and Wellington.
