CHILLED BEEF
AUSTRALIAN SHIPMENT SAILS. (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, October 25. " The first shipment of chilled beef by an Orient liner, consisting of two hundred quarters, was loaded into the Otranto here to-day. It will be sold in the Smithfield market off the hooks in coifipetition with Argentine meat. The Orient Line have specially fitted two holds for the experiment. One section of to-day’s shipment is being carried under the ordinary chilling methods; and the other section under the carbon dioxide process, which has proved so encouraging. Four other shipments are booked for the next three months.
