WOMEN CRITICISED
BEACH PYJAMAS IN CHURCH LONDON, October 19. Prebendary. Carnegy, rector of Ledbury, Herefordshire, has criticised women for wearing beach pyjamas in Canterbury. Cathedral, as permitted by the dean, Rev. Hewlett Johnson. The rector asks whether women would be allowed to enter Buckingham Palace thus clad. Why, lie asks, are they permitted to visit the house of God in costumes forbidden in the house of an earthly King?
