CRICKET

ONE DAY MATCHES ADVOCATED. A. W. ROBERTS RETURNS TO N.Z. (Per P.rest Associationr- Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 25. A. W. Roberts, the Canterbury and New Zealand cricketer returned to-day after a season iii Lancashire league cricket. He says that one day matches are worth a trial here. . “From the public viewpoint, one day cricket is ideal, although certainly not much good from the cricket viewpoint. The batsmen have to score runs quickly, or get out, and there is no such thing as getting set. The present New Zealand system of one side batting all afternoon is no good.”
