NEW BASIC WAGE
: N.S.W, PREMIER’S STATEMENT. (Australian Press Association). (Received this day at 11.42 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 25. The Premier (Mr B. S. B. Stevens), stated that the Government would not give any directions /to the industrial commission regarding the operation of the new basic wage. He directed the Public ’Service Board to confer with public service unions with a view to ; adjusting hardships that might have I (been created by the new basic wage. I Thirteen more Sydney firms have announced they will not reduce' their employees’ wages, and several councils : have made the same decision.
