AUCKLAND MURDER
intensive search continues
MYSTERY STILL UNSOLVED
jfPer Press Association — Coy^ryhb.)
AUCKLAND, October 23
The taxicab murder case, in which Mr James Hunter Blair was the victim is still unsolved. That public interest and concern have been maintained in the case is evident from the further reports offered to the police bv citizens willing to assist, but nothing decisive has yet come from an inquiry which must rank as one of -the most intensive Conducted in regard to crime in New Zealand. The searcli for a possible weapon has been continued without result, and the Targe staff ot investigators concerned with interviewing informants and, other .persons likely to contribute some point of interest was busily engaged over the w c «k-end throughout the city and suburbs. An inquiry conducted at all laundries in Auckland with reference to clothing bearing marks ot blood vas completed, but nothing was gained. The possibility of bleed stains on the nsasilant’s clothing remains, however, a matter of interest.
Although the investigation has so far failed to ..disclose motive, the u capon or a possible witness of the ciime, the police inquiry will be continued. The crime is regarded as especially serious in that, possibly it w as done by a homicidal maniac, and the police are losing no opportunity to inquire in every possible direction.
