Pile cause of interference by power lilies with radio sets has been traced to the lightning arrestors, according to the Grey Power Board engineer, Mr Sinclair Trotfov, Tim arresters are quite satisfactory, hut the general minute leakages, a necessary quality of the arresters, is the cause of the interference. When aerials are placed very near power lines, the noise created in the set becomes almost unbe raible. Hence, numerous complaints are received, many protesting that the authorities are doing nothing to eliminate the cause of the trouble. The engineer said that the only remedy was to put into use a new type of American arrester, hut this would he expensive, particularly in view of the fact that the present arresters are perfectly satisfactory. To remove the HpVitning arresters altogether would be only asking for trouble, as the first thunderstorm would spell disaster to the town service .
