QUANTITY OF TOBACCO TAKEN. WATHT, Sept. 26. Some time between the closing hour: last evening and this morning tin goods shed at the Waihi railway station was broken into and a quantity of tobacco was stolen from a case con taining mainly groceries. A parcel oi drapej-y was also tampered with an fl part, of the goods extracted. Everything was left safe when the slied was /closed on Friday evening and the theft was "discovered when the porter opened up this morning. On April last the office was broken into and an attempt was made on the safe, hut so loud wa ; s the explosion that the would-be thief or thieves became alarmed and decamped without waiting to ascertain the result.
