A BOY’S DEATH
SIDE PIERCED BY STAKE. FALL OVER SMALL DRAIN. K A ITALY, Sep. 26. An accident while at play resulted in tin: death to-day oi Albert Clarence llrott, fourth son of Mr and Airs fc B. Brott, of Kaitaia. In the morning the, bay, who wa 10 years of age, left his parents’ horn to go to a farm of his uncle, Mi Arthur Foster, on tiie Kaitaia-Awanu road. While playing in the garden with two companions, he tripped over a small, drain and a sharp stake pierce his left side beneath the arm, about 6in. penetrating the body. “Don’t play any more, I’ve hurt, my self,” the injured boy called out to hi: companions, and he died almost as soo. as his aunt, Airs Foster, who had com from the house, attracted by the boy’ cries, reached the, scene of the acci dent. Dr. H. G. Rix. of Kaitaia, was sum moned, and later the body was taker to the home of the parents. An inquest wag opened before tbr district coroner, Mr L. A. MoTntosh this afternoon, and after evidence o’ identification had been taken was adjourned until Tuesday.
