REBEL LEADER DEFEATED. (United Press Association—By Electri« TeJegfaph—Copyright) PEKING, Sep. 28. General Fang Clhen Wu’s bubblelike the campaign—has, apparently, hurst, for, after fierce fighting in the streets of a walled town only eighteen miles north of Peking, General Fang’s forces are now retreating ’westward along the Armistice line of the demilitarised zone. The. fighting lasted for 24 hours, the intruders leaving about one hundred dead, and several hundred wounded, Japanese ’planes assisted the Government forces in the hostilities, they dropping bombs on Fang’s forces. Fang appears able to make a perfect getawav, and is now taking full opportunity of the respite.
