. CONFERENCE OPENS. (Per Pre s s Association, Copyright). WELLINGTON, Sepetniber 27. The conference of the Electric Power Boards and supply authorities commenced to-day. Mr J. A. Nash M.P., president, in the chair. Delegates included Airs McC’ombs who is chairman of the Electrical Committee of the Christchurch City Council. Hon. G. W. Forbes and Hon. Bitchener were at the opening, also Mr H. E. Holland, Leader of the Opposition. Mr Forbes said he was quite willing to do anything reasonable te assist the Association. Boards should always hear in‘mind the necessity of preventing overlapping ,and the bringing down of the cost to th-a consumers by means of amalgamation and in other directions.

Mr Bitchener said that with the completion of the Waitaki scheme New Zealand would be well provided for in lilt? matter • of electricity supply..
