TO SENSATIONAL ACCIDENT. (I’er Press Association—Copyright). AUCKLAND, September 27. As a sequel to a sensational accident in Parnell on July 7th, when two ca r . s collided and Robert Burns, way was a /passenger in one, had hies neck pierced by a steel curtain rod, trie arivei of one car. Her counsel said the facts wore less serious thn-n might appear. Bums had been discharged from t>*<e hospital. The degree of negligence should not be judged by the extent of the man’s 'injuries. Defendant 'was fined £2 and costs. I Burns made a remarkable recovery. (Before he could be taken to the lios-1 pital- the rod had to he sawn from the base by a hack-saw. At the hospital the -rest of the rod was withdrawn by a surgeon and a tube inserted to enable him to breathe meanwhile.
