ELDERLY MAN CONVICTED. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) AUCKLAND, September 20.-: A fine of £2, with costs, was imposed in the Police Conrt yesterday on an elderly man, Charles Henry Marrs, who was convicted of 'assaulting Ellerslie Harrison by striking him with a bottle. Harrison gave evidence that at about 10 a.m. lie saw defendant in Hobson Street and warned him about visiting one of witness’ rented houses. Witness also referred to a debt which he claimed was outstanding, and defendant thereupon hit witness over the. head with a bottle, stunning him. Defendant .who was represented by Mr Hall Skelton, said complainant had seized him by the arm and shaken him and in self-defence he had “tapped him over |thc head” with a bottle.
