Results were: Bames beat Plaa, 2—6, 6—4, 6—3, 6-1. Tilden beat Cachet, 6—3, 6—4. 6—2. Tilden and Barnes beat Crochet and Plaa, 6—2, 4—6, 6—l, 6—4. Despite the fact that he is aged 40, against Coehet’s 32, Tilden reproduced hie old formv and completely outplayed •i,nd outlasted 'the ,Frenchman, who failed to stand the strain of the terrifically fast first set. Cochet was unable to cope udth the speed of Tdden’s returns.
