JAPAN’S POSITION
LONDON PAPER’S REPORT iCjAted Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copy rig lit.) LONDON, September 25. Tlie “Daily Herald,” says: “Japan is facing financial and economic bankruptcy, as the direct result of huge sums being devoted to the financing of operations in Manchuria, -where she has staked everything on -a gamble, and all. of the indications are that she will lose. Japan has carried her policy of depreciation too far. There is a growing demand all over the world for Governmental action, to prohibit the importation of cheap Japanese goods. If such action is taken, it will force Japan into bankruptcy. She is faced with the budget deficit of approximately one hundred millions sterling at par. Only fiftyfive per cent of her budget requirements can be met out of her normal revenue. Yet her military party are pressing an additional expenditure.”
