FOR UNITED SUPPORT. (Per British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 23. The Prime Minister, Mr It, .MacDonald appealed for the continued unity of and for support of the National Government at ,a public meeting at Kilmarnock. He claimed that a strong position was held by Great Britain, both financially and industrially, and that it wa.s the result of the Government’s work during a period of extreme difficulty. He pointed to a rise which whs taking place in wholesale prices, describing this as one of the most scienitfic ways of increasing both demand for labour and given to labour, and also pointed out that, meanwhile, purchasing power had also been maintained. He said trade was showing many hopeful signs, and British currency earned the confidence and respect of the world. There had also been a fall in unemployment of nearly half a million since the beginning of the present year. He said the Government was working to increase world con sumption and to secure, by various means, the proper share for Britain of that increase.
