STREET MURDER

MAN RIDDELD WITH BULLETS (Australian Press Association). MELBOURNE, September 22. A murder of the American gangster type has occurred at Fitzroy. James John, aged twenty-five, labourer, was shot five times in the stomach and chest by a man who stepped out of a car and afterwards drove away with a companion. John, who died on the pavement, was in the company of a boxer named Ohrisfield. Bullets were deliberately rained at John, but Chrisfield was not harmed. He declares that the murderer is unknown to him.
