Time 1.13. ■Cottesmore, nearing the judge’s box ra n very wide and spoilt its chance of victory. The Mirro r was unplaced in the Brush Hurdles, and Salfai’i was unplaced in the first division of the Encourage Handicap. Autopay .has wrenched his back, and is an unlikely starter at the spring carnival. Master Brierlv is recovering from his foot trouble.

EQUIPOISE’S LAST RAiCE. NEW YORK, September 19. The racehorse Equipoise is to be retired after the Havre de Grace Handicap on September 30. As Wjnooka is not eligible to run in the Havre de 'Grace Handicap; which will be Equipoise’s last race, there is apparently no chance of him and Equipoise ever meeting. Mr Whitney, his owner, explainsthat Equipoise ran last Saturday wivh a slight crack .in the wall of bis front hoof. As thi s was a recurring injury, he had decided t 0 abandon hi.s hopes of the house becoming the world’s greatest money winner.. Since he first was raced in April, 1950, Equipoise has won 32,097 dollars, the fourth highest total in the world.
