Apropos of the fourteen short wave radio licenses issued to aero clubs in the Dominion, the Westland Aero Club has communicated with the Minister of Defence (the Hon. J. G. Cobbe), asking that a license also be issued to them. It is maintained that .the request is very reasonable in view of the fact that Hokitika possesses the only aerodrome on the West Coast, and is on the ; direct tourist route from Christchurch to the Glaciers. Further the growing popularity of traveling by air is resulting in an ever increasing number of visiting planes making Hokitika .port of call..
