A university student was charged at the Magistrate’s Court with the.t of books, valued at £5, from the Athenaeum, also with wilfully damaging Athenaeum hooks. 'The police said there had been a number of these offences and they produced a bundle of clippings of illustrations from magazines to indicate the extent of the damage to periodicals. Twenty-four hooks had been stolen. Accused, whose name 'va s simpressed, was remanded till Wednesday on bail.
