MARTON RACES YESTERDAY. (Per Press Association —Copyright). WANGANUI, September 13. The Marton Jockey Club’s spring meeting was held to-day in good weather. The track was excellent and the attendance better than for many years. The tote handled £6,751 against £4,937. Results:— Tutanui Hack.—3/1 Cherry King 1, 5/4 D’Artagnan -2, 2/2 Etiquette 3. Won by two lengths • a head. Time 1.15 3-5. Marton Handicap.—l/1 Speedmint and 2/2 Curie, dead heat 1, 6/6 Joie de Val 3. The third horse was two lengths away. Time 2.11 1-5. Spring Hack.—l/1 Pango 1, 3/3 Ytlian 2, 7/5 Nebulae 3. Won by half a length; a length. Time 1.53. Railway Handicap. Queen 1, 1/1 Diatomos 2, 7/6 Sir Pombal 3. Won by half a length; a length and a.half. Time 1.14 4-5. Farewell Handicap. Knight 1, 3/3 Acceptable 2, 6/5 Acrelict 3. Won. by a neck; a length and alialf. Time 1.2 4-5.
N.Z. HORSES WIN AT SYDNEY.
SYDNEY, September 13. New Zealand horses figured prominently at Rosebery races to-day. Results were:— Rosebery Spring Stakes.—Ammon Ra 9.0 1, Closing Time 9.0 2, Golden Hair 7,7. 3. Also started: High Disdain. Won by one and a-quarter lengths; third one and a-half lengths away. Time 1.24 f. Ammon Ra showed a great improvement colmpared to his .last start, although neither Closing Time nor Golden Hair was really fit. Flying Handicap, second division.— Movie Star 8.11 1, Pasalmist 7.4, 2, Highboy 7.5 3. Fourteen started, including Persian. Won by three lengths; third three-quarters of a length awy. Time 1.222.
Bay 'free ran third in the second division of the Welter Mile, while Deputy Ruler finished, second, and Kodapen third in the first division of the flying Handicap. Korokio was unplaced. Love Song was 'second in the Rosebery Handicap, in which Safari was unplaced. The stewards inquired into interference with Bay Tree, and also with Closing Time, in their respective races and decided the cause was accidental.
