Six. members of the ' Hokitika jiranclr of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club went up the middle branch of the KoKatahi river yesterday to tile gorge. Front the- swing bridge, they commenced clearing an old track with the object of- improving the access to the headwaters of the Kokatahi, and Clark Pass, and obviating the present necessity of climbing 2000 feet oyer a ridge to gain the objective.
