■The* light-heavyweight : final proved • a great go, in which Bel 1 (Greymouth) was always' a trifle '.ahead on points.’ Hi's opponent hardly knew how to handle him, a s Bell has- some stagey ring trick's up his sleeve. A really unpopular verdict was tint i n which McKay (Gisborne) got the decision ’in the flyweight bout over Gordon (Taranaki), for, though the winner -was; the- more rugged;--Gordon seemed to do most of the work. The judges were probably impressed by McKay’s clean hitting. - ~ W. Francis (Otago) and R. Purdie (Auckland)- fought a, yery close thing in the light weight, and; the decision in the AuckTinder’s: favour was not' received with universal, approval. However,, ha showed , more, finish than his opponent, who relied largely. on his obvious superiority ini strength.
