August 30. iAn unusual situation arose in the Conciliation Council proceediiigs this morning when. Air J. Roberts, r'ssessor for the (Christchurch Saddle, harness and collar makers’ union declined to enter into ,am agreement on- the basis of the rate of wages of Is 9d an hour for journeymen. Mr Heberts -resigned his post as assessor and a new assessor was hurriedly sent for, following which a full agreement wag reached. The other union -assessors agreed to the employers’ offer of Is. 9d 'which Air Roberts had declared ridiculoug.
