Roberts, r'ssessor for the (Christchurch Saddle, harness and collar makers’ union declined to enter into ,am agreement on- the basis of the rate of wages of Is 9d an hour for journeymen. Mr Heberts -resigned his post as assessor and a new assessor was hurriedly sent for, following which a full agreement wag reached. The other union -assessors agreed to the employers’ offer of Is. 9d 'which Air Roberts had declared ridiculoug.
