COCK’S 'DISPUTE
FAILURE TO AGREE

WELLINGTON, August 29
The. cooks' and .stewards’, other than of-the Union Company, dispute was before the Conciliation Council yesterday,, but failed to reach an agreement, and this morning the employers put forward proposals agreeing to fifteen per cent, reduction on 1931 rates, instead of 20 per cent., as proposed yesterday. After a short retirement, the union assessors stated they could not agree and would not accept less than the present award irates.
After some discussion the commission, er (Mr Johns) said there appeared to be no hope of' ran. agreement, and the •case was adjourned sine die.
