TWO ARRESTS
SHOPS BURGLED AT LEVIN. QUICK WORK BY CONSTABLE. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) TOXTON, 'August 29. ; Smart work on the part of Constable It, Owen was responsible for the arrest of two men on a charge of burgling two Levin drapery establishments. Constable Owen noticed two women arrive at Foxton in a taxi with five suit cases. -His suspicions were aroused when, later, they were joined by two men who arrived -in a servioe car. The strangers deposited their bags at a local fruit shop, and went off after an inspection of the shops. • Constable Owen communicated with the Levin .police and a search of the bags revealed property mjssing from the Levin shops. Subsequently the two •men were arrested, and allegedly admitted the offence. At the Levin Court before a Justice of the tPeace, Bernard Cummings aged -21, arid Garth • Durrant, aged 24, wqro charged with breaking and entering the premises of J. E. Wallace and W. Davie, both of Levin. They were remanded to appear at Wellington.
